The old frontwoman for the acclaimed indie pop jazz grouping Crowsdell, singer/songwriter Shannon Wright was born and embossed in Jacksonville, FL. A product of the area's prosperous all-ages yob scenery, she formed Crowsdell with bassist Alice Paul Howell and drummer Laurie Anne Wall, debuting in 1995 with the underground ducky Dreamette and curtly later relocating to New York City. However, when relations with label Big Computed tomography soured in the waken of 1997's Within the Curved shape of an Weapon, the grouping dissolved, and an embittered Wright sold most of her holding and affected to rural North Carolinas, where she began transcription a series of deep personal, folk-inflected songs to four-track.
