Coal Chamber stone-broke out of the Los Angeles substitute alloy scene in 1997 with a sound oft compared to Korn, although both bands formed around the same time and ar quality representations of the scene's boilersuit legal -- the threatening, detuned guitars of the murkiest Black Sabbath, grimy, noisy textures remindful of White Zombie or Tool, the white-knuckle intensity of Pantera and hard-core punk rock, and perhaps a few hip-hop-influenced beats á la Biohazard. Coal Chamber was formed in 1994 by vocalist/lyricist B. Dez Fafara and guitarist Miguel "Meegs" Rascon, world Health Organization met through a classified ad; the two added drummer Mike "Mikee" Cox and bassist Rayna Foss, the latter of whom heard about auditions through her roomie, Fafara's future wife. A vast local seethe following gigs at the Roxy and the Whisky A-Go-Go, on with a demonstration mag tape championed by Fear Factory's Dino Cazares, got the band an opportunity to signboard with Roadrunner Records late in 1994, simply Fafara dead discontinue due to disagreements with his married woman all over the dance orchestra. By the give of 1995, Fafara changed his mind and returned, a decisiveness that in the end cost him his marriage ceremony, just a renewed sense of energy helped Coal Chamber regain their Roadrunner deal by the end of the year. Their self-titled debut was released in 1997; Chamber Music followed two age later. The album was a minor success only its mixture of tyke rock mental imagery and nu metal thuggery made for an odd album. They toured to a great extent behind it simply by the time it came time to record the side by side album, bassist Rayna Foss-Rose was deceased to lift her daughter, going away the isthmus with Nadja Peulen. Nadja took Foss-Rose's property during her gestation between the low gear deuce albums, simply she recognised the invitation to follow back as a entire time member during the recording of the next record. The resulting album, Dark Days, was released in the saltation of 2002.
