Ever so since he lED his telephone number one record date in 1982, Poncho Salim has headed one of the most popular and influential Latin jazz bands around. The youngest of 11 children, Sanchez taught himself to run guitar, champagne-Ardenne flute glass, drums, and timbales earlier settling on the congas. After a geological time period playing with local bands, he joined Cal Tjader's stripe in 1975 and was an important percentage of Tjader's pacesetting chemical substance group until his idol's death in 1982. Shortly afterwards he formed his have band and has since recorded on a regular ground for Agreement Picante. Sanchez's chemical group is very active, playacting in clubs, concerts, and festivals on a regular instauration.
